Liverpool Vows Not to Alter Attacking Style Amid Poor Run of Form, Insists Arne Slot

Liverpool's head coach has revealed that the Anfield decision-makers are aligned with his perspective regarding the poor performance streak and he has no intention of discarding their offensive approach in pursuit of a turnaround. The tactician admitted that six losses in seven games was not good enough ahead of Aston Villa's visit.

Growing Expectations Amid Tough Spell

Liverpool's coach recognized the expectations were high before his makeshift team suffered Carabao Cup elimination against Crystal Palace. However, he insisted that this pressure to arrest the slide is not coming from the club's ownership or executive leadership following a substantial investment of approximately £450 million.

"We share common perspectives," commented Slot, whose side will meet Los Blancos in the continental tournament and play against the Citizens in the Premier League.

Player Depth Stays Undoubted

The coach is convinced his team "boast a remarkable roster if they are fully healthy and all ready for the programme we are facing". He noted that the summer investment in players such as Florian Wirtz and the Swedish striker, who is likely to miss out again against Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in such a good place for the short-term future and the long-term future".

Team Cohesion Issues

When questioned about why his team were taking so long to gel, he responded: "You don't really help me. 'Why, why, why?' I offer insights and people say I'm making justifications. I can list several explanations why we are not winning as much or suffering defeats as we do but, as I say every time, there are inadequate reasons to have a performance streak as we had now."

  • Regardless of whether I could list multiple factors
  • As Liverpool manager you should not suffer defeats
  • Unfortunately six losses from seven matches

Defensive Numbers

Only Burnley (twenty-one) have conceded more clear opportunities from normal situations this season than Slot's team (nineteen). The first-place team, the Gunners, have conceded only two. Yet Slot denies the champions have been too open and claims there is no justification to abandon offensive philosophy for a cautious system after ten fixtures without a goalless performance.

"I don't see us conceding a lot of chances so I don't see a reason to change our playing style completely but we must improve in preventing goals," he declared.

Particular Cases

"When facing United, how many opportunities did we allow? Versus the German side when we were ahead by two goals, we scarcely gave up a shot on target. In every match we have competed in we haven't given up a many opportunities. Definitely not. We do concede a slightly more than last season but that stems from us being trailing by a goal so you play more openly. But in general I don't believe that our challenge is that we allow too many opportunities. Our problem is we fail to convert the opportunities we generate."
