Manchester United Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from Bayern Munich.
A Major Signing for United
The forward, with half a year remaining on her deal, has been a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a major signing for the WSL team.
Her exit from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
Reports in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top strikers. Per multiple sources, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Boost the Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a major boost to United’s attacking options. She has been highly reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club appear to be building momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since joining in 2023.
On the midfielder's extension, a senior figure commented: “Miyazawa is now a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a club in the NWSL, said: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
