Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community members assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to support public safety in Washington DC.

“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and halt issuing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” Morrisey told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
