Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
