The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the network launched a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness struck a chord and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this charming family navigate their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its current layer of irony. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
